This is somewhat decent

The voice-acting has a lot of room for improvement. Most of the line-deliveries feel very monotone, and don't serve their characters that well.
The Hippo Drill Sergeant for example, she sounds very timid and quiet, but by her character design and in the way she is used, you would expect her to sound tough and intimidating. I think if you made her talk very loudly, and gave her a somewhat raspy voice, her voice would fit the character much better

I'll be honest, you did do a good job of replicating the look of an old, degraded Looney Tunes cartoon. The film grain filter you used, along with the occasional scratches, and the frame moving up and down, do a really good job at making this look like an old film that someone found lying around in their basement, it's a very lovely effect

I would recommend giving your characters unique dialects that fit them. I think the hippo should speak in a very demeaning manner to her soldiers, referring to them as "ladies" or "maggots" and speaking in short sentences. This would really make her stand out among the other characters and show how intimidating she can be

I apologise if I've been overly-critical, but I am so critical because I love the idea of a Looney Tunes inspired cartoon with a female lead, it's not something I've seen done often and I genuinely hope you can make something great out of this =]

AstreEtoile responds:

I do agree 100% with the voice acting and I'll be sure to take note of that next time :)

I really like this!

Maybe I'm hallucinating this, but it sounds like the sound effects (such as shooting) are actually syncronised to the music, which if that's actually the case, is really cool!
I really love how the character designs contrast each other with just their colours alone, but still look similar to each other, it's kinda cool

one note though, why the fuck did he do a Chernobyl?

BRICKLIB responds:

Thank you bro for the feedback , yes some sounds do intentionally sync with the music , the chernobyl thing was not intentional tho 🤣 but since you pointed it out it's so funny.

I have no idea what to make of this
The surreal synth music, combined with the real life footage, makes this feel like it came from a 70s film (which I wholeheartedly mean as a compliment)
Despite the minimal movement, I really love the animation. The fact that it's kinda shitty actually adds a lot to the surreal atmosphere, which I really like!

Robobob4th1987 responds:

Thanks, that's very interesting to hear. I'm glad you liked it!

i have no goddamn idea what the fuck this is, but its hillarious and i love it

CastleAlphy666 responds:

Hell yeah mate. I actually have a longer version I made for youtube. basically its supposed to be jimmy neutron overdosing on the drug meletonin which causes him to have a really weird dream. its actually based on a real dream I had back when I used to overdose on meletonin accidently and frequently. and the dreams... Omg they were insane and vivid mate. don't do it because its dangerous. sleep well

I saw the thumbnail, and immediately knew I was gonna see some gold. Gotta say, happy to be correct.

The character design fits very well with the art style, and I love the attitude you gave her, its a very nice mix of calm yet cool, without showing any sense of apathy.
Your work on the lighting is very impressive as well. Its very cool to see the light flash rapidly as she is welding, it helps give a sense of intensity that I really like, while not being overwhelming or conflicting with her personality.
You also have very good keyframes, the posing combined with the timing convey her actions very well, and really show what her personality is about. You have a very good grasp on how to convey a character through animation.
If this is an animation test, I can understand the lack of inbetweens, but adding a few more inbetweens here in there could really make this even better.
Lastly, this would benefit greatly from sound effects. She is listening to music, so it would add to her character even more if we heard the music she was listening to, whilst hearing the welding as well.

Outside of that, top notch animation! I really do believe you should continue 2d animation, you've got good talent and a great grasp on key posing and timing, two very essential things.

GiftedArt responds:

wow thank you! your words are very encouraging.

I really love this film!

The dialogue is absolutely charming, and if this was just some audio you recorded on the spot with a friend, that makes it even better. The editing is absolutely wonderful, and some of these shots really go hard as fuck. The music gives this a dream-like feeling that feels almost romantical in a way, it really does enhance the mood and makes this really comforting to watch.

While I am not the biggest fan of this art style, I do find it pretty cute, but sometimes the proportions feels all wonky and make the characters look like they are deformed in some way. I can understand that there was a deadline, because the animation is very rough in a lot of scenes, but I genuinely commend the fact that you were able to put in more emphasis on composition rather than movements, because your understanding of composition really does carry a lot of the art in here, and it's very impressive and expressive.

Overall, this is a really good film =]

leahm2345 responds:

Thank you so much ! The dialogue is real yes I have about 4 more hours worth of rambling haha ! I really appreciate this comment so much ! Thank you for taking the time to give such in-depth feedback !! The animation definitely got left behind at some parts due to the deadline haha, thank you again !!

you've got a good grasp on how to make 3D animations. the movements here are simple, but effective, and it's really hard to tell that this was made by a beginning animator. i also love the 4:3 and compressed audio, it really makes this feel old and grimy, but in a good way

YoshTheAxolotl responds:

thanks!

watching this made me think that i should probably use Newgrounds more, because i don't know how i haven't discovered you before.

seriously, this is some really good animation, keep it up!

J-AlanBaker responds:

Thanks :D

i remember loving this show back in the day, it sucks that they cancelled it before they could make a proper ending.

psitaccus responds:

Yeah, it was definitely a dark day in tv history. Too bad we'll never learn how the divorce subplot would've ended.

Romanian animator and artist, I mainly use Krita to draw and animate

I don't exactly think, therefo
